Minnesota has become the first state in the U.S. to ban triclosan, effective January 1, 2017.

Liquid SoapThe bill prohibits the sale of personal care and hygiene products that contain it, which according to the FDA, an estimated 75% of soaps and body washes boasting antibacterial properties do contain. Triclosan, a known endocrine-disruptor, can also be found in such products as toothpaste, deodorant and hand sanitizers, as well as cleaning products, dish and laundry soaps, and other household staples.

“Well done, Minnesota! Congrats on taking important steps toward protecting citizens and becoming a much safer state!”
