In June we asked you to make your home a Chemical-Free Zone. Now that you have gone chemical-free you have a bunch of chemicals to get rid of. You can’t just throw them in the trash or pour them down the sink in most areas, so what do you do?
Here are three ways to get rid of those nasty chemicals.
- Earth911.org has a handy feature to find a disposal center in your area. Just type in the product to dispose of and your zip code and they will direct you to the proper disposal facility. Works in most major US cities. http://www.earth911.com
- Call your City or County. If you can’t find a facility on Earth911.org, the EPA.gov says your city or county should be able to help you find a disposal facility, or let you know of
pick up days for hazardous materials.
- Habitat for Humanity ReStore will take your paint and stains off of your hands. Your donation will be re-sold in both the US and Canada.

I LOVE ReStore!! We shop there all the time!! <3
We love Habitat for Humanity ReStore, too! It’s great that they take paint and stain to resell, but I also appreciate that they help with the “reuse” of the “reduce, reuse, recycle” plan for many household items.
